In order to encourage those actors and defenders both in Africa and everywhere in the world that fight for an end to the abuse of children’s and women’s rights.
In the accomplishment of its mission, it created in July 2005 the ‘GLASS TROPHIES,’ an initiative, strongly appreciated by the Beninese government, the organizations of civil society, diplomatic bodies, United Nations institutions and those of the African Union.
Why Glass ?
The experience of several years of AUTRE VIE’s engagement in defense and protection of children’s and women’s rights allowed it to discover that these two groups are fragile, as glass. They are the most vulnerable on the social, economic, political and cultural spectrum. The care of these groups demands much sacrifice and effort. Despite the complexity of their needs and in spite of the destitution that characterizes them, several defenders and actors, of both the state and civil society consecrate themselves to these objectives selflessly.
The assessment is that these actors and defenders of human rights are not known or encouraged. To fill the void, Autre Vie, in relying on the Beninese government, development partners and businesses decided to create the GLASS
TROPHIES to instate a culture of encouragement for defenders and actors engaged in the promotion of children’s and women’s rights in Africa. By this program, Autre Vie hopes to put all of the strengths of African Society to work to ensure a favorable environment for defense and protection of the rights of children and women.
